Mass Effect: Andromeda. The first impressions

TO Mass Effect: Andromeda Many fans of the series from the very beginning treated a considerable share of skepticism. People expressed discontent shown in the rollers with a personal animation, the absence of Casey Hudson and Drew Karpishin in the list of developers, and these doubts only reinforced the dubious PR campaign in places. Instead of demonstrating the main thing – characters, quests and dialogs – we were narrated in paints about how great it is to Duelz Casino drive through the deserts on a new all -terrain vehicle and how fun to develop a space station.

Whether fears were confirmed? So far we cannot answer. But we have already played for several hours and now we will talk about our impressions of the entry.

Three hours – the flight is normal

The main idea that comes to mind after an hour of the game: this is exactly the one Mass Effect , that we loved ten years ago. Pleasant "cosmic" music in the main menu, the atmosphere of something majestic, recognizable style-from the first minutes familiar feelings arise. But it is important that, instead of studying flora and fauna, collecting resources and fussing with construction, the game is pushing on history.

Andromeda events unfold in the new Galaxy, six hundred years after the trilogy of the trilogy. All this even causes a certain sadness – it becomes interesting how the stories of the favorite characters ended there!

Yes, judging by what we managed to see, there are previously fed things here: gathering, construction of avantosts, and the study of the same spaces. But it does not seem to be that the game abuses this. But we met many entertaining characters, took a quest to investigate the murder (reminding us of one excellent task from Knights of the Old Republic), and most of the time spent in dialogs with characters.

Contrary to all fears, there are many interesting conversations: almost every more or less significant character can be found out from the situation at the station to his biography. At the same time, history is presented not only through dialogs – as in the past parts, the NPC around constantly communicate, revealing the details of the world, and the Sopartians seem to not plug and comment on almost everything.

As in the first part, the battles do not cause enthusiasm yet. But I want to believe that over time the situation will improve.

I am glad that the atmosphere of the original is preserved. The local space station, “Nexus”, resembles “Citadel” both externally and in filling – all these Turians, Azari, Krogan, Salaryans look and speak the same way, and their interracial problems did not disappear even after the change of galaxy. Even the weapon in the local store remains the same: M-8 Avenger, sniper rifle "Gadyuk" and so on. Like a break of six (and for someone at six hundred!) years and there were no.

Explore the new ship, the "storm", we liked. It has many rooms and heroes for conversations, and also – a pleasant atmosphere of home comfort. At such moments, you recall your first visits to Normandy, after three games, which became almost a sacred place for many players. I would like to believe that the same fate awaits the "storm".

There are references to old characters and events here, we already counted several pieces at once at the very beginning.

In general, feelings, Andromeda most resembles the first part of the series. And the point is not only that we again have to travel on an all -terrain vehicle through unexplored planets and collect objects that can be processed in the gel. Just a new game, it seems, again gives fans Mass Effect the opportunity to become a pioneer.

Yes, the setting is familiar, but, as in the original, the players find themselves in a completely new place, meet new characters, and this time the galaxy is completely different and is fraught with many secrets. And you can also draw parallels between the lines of Shepard (or Miss Shepard) and riders. If the commander took over the burden, becoming the first person-“spectrum”, then the main character or heroine Andromeda-“pioneers”. Researchers who should study the new galaxy for them and find a place that could be called the new home. And here you also feel on the threshold of something magnificent, when there are many discoveries and achievements ahead.

I want to believe that this feeling will not be lost. At least until Andromeda is disappointed.

The first problems

True, this does not mean at all that we did not find the shortcomings. From everything that I managed to see, I still did not like two things – this is the action and technical implementation. The local combat system seems a little chaotic, but it really has not been possible to "feel" it yet. The weapon in the hands is almost not felt, hitting enemies, whether it be bullets or hand -to -hand strokes, too, too. The shelter system is now automatic: the hero himself is attached to certain places. But it works strange: often understand whether you have hidden or not, you just fail, and it is not always possible to get the character to take the desired position.

After the arrival of the grief-colonizers, they encountered a huge number of problems.

To whom all this probably does not hurt, so these are bioatics lovers. Jerks at great speed into a crowd of enemies, the ability to grab and throw the enemy – all this is felt and looks even better than before. As soon as more such skills open, play in this style, most likely, will be very exciting.

In terms of technical implementation, everything is predictable: the problems were visible in the demonstrations of the game. The facial animation is most upset: the characters' eyes are completely lifeless, as if hollowed out of stone and painted with gouache, eyelashes are almost not visible, the skin color of some comrades is unnatural, and the facial expressions are wooden.

At the same time, that it’s funny, during the gameplay, the game looks very much even nothing, but in the videos all these terrible faces, as well as muddy textures and not very successful shadows are striking. Although we played on the Xbox One (by the way, sometimes the frequency of personnel sags there), so this can be a feature of the version, and the patch of the first day will probably correct something.

How interesting the partners turned out to be difficult to judge. But the first impression is positive: so far they all cause sympathy. No more, no less.

By the way, the setting of dialogs and part of the cat-scenes generally raises questions-sometimes the characters are just standing a pillar and not even gesticulating. It is unusual to say this about Mass Effect, because the first part was just praised for the fact that the dialogs ceased to resemble the “conversation of two goals”. And then everything seemed to return a couple of generations ago.

Of course, this opinion is far from final-it is forbidden to tell us something for the time being, we still do not know something and ourselves. And, of course, to judge by the introductory clock of a large role -playing game is an ungrateful business, the picture may change more than once.
